Planning

Planning – Location planning for Sinister Side: In a thriller like Sinister Side, the location is everything. It’s not just a setting—it’s a character in itself. The right location builds tension, enhances fear, and immerses the audience into the world of mystery and danger we’re creating. To find the perfect backdrop for our film opening, we went on a location recce—visiting, evaluating, and documenting potential shoot sites that match the tone and visual style of Sinister Side. --- What We Were Looking For Our story required a location that felt: Isolated – to create a sense of vulnerability. Decayed or abandoned – to reflect the past tragedy. Visually dynamic – with space for movement, hiding spots, and eerie visuals. The location had to work for both flashbacks (friends alive) and the present-day return of the survivor, so versatility was key. --- Location 1: Abandoned Warehouse Pros: Gritty, industrial look. Natural decay (broken windows, graffiti). Plenty of space for dynamic cam...

Team discussion

First Team Discussion – Brainstorming the Nightmare: Every great film begins with an idea—and that idea often starts with a conversation, a whiteboard, and a flood of creativity. Our team held the first official discussion for our film opening Senistor Side, and it was packed with excitement, debate, and a whole lot of brainstorming. Here’s a breakdown of how we built the foundation of our project. Team Meeting Objectives We gathered to: Decide on the genre for our film opening. Brainstorm narrative ideas. Assign initial production roles. Discuss themes, tone, and inspirations. With notebooks, laptops, and coffee in hand, we dived into creative mode. Choosing Our Genre We explored several genres: Horror – Intense, fear-driven, but cliché if not handled well. Psychological Thriller – More complex, focuses on mind games and suspense. Mystery/Crime – Good for intrigue, but needs a strong setup. After discussion, we all agreed on Thriller—it offered the perfect balance of tension, fe...

Preliminary task

Preliminary Task – Practice Makes Perfect: Before diving into the production of our actual film opening for Senistor Side, we took on a Preliminary Task—a smaller-scale project designed to help us practice essential filming and editing skills, explore media techniques, and get a feel for the workflow of a real production. This task was crucial for building our confidence and technical understanding, and it helped our team learn what works and what doesn’t in a practical setting. The Idea For the preliminary task, we created a short video sequence based on a simple narrative: Two friends meet in a deserted alley to confront each other over a lost item—something innocent at first glance, but the tension escalates as one of them reveals it’s connected to a dark past. We wanted to test suspense and create a short, intense exchange that hinted at deeper conflict. This also helped us practice dialogue scenes, reaction shots, and camera continuity. Pre-Production Script: We wrote a brie...
